The figure of Roger Giles squatting to lay eggs with his trousers down and bare backside exposed. Roger was an English farmer who, in an attempt to sell eggs put up a sign advertising fresh eggs which read‚ “new laid eggs, by me, Roger Giles”. His grammatical mistake was reported in the local press and his notoriety spread with robust humour.
