Black basalt teapot decorated with encaustic enamels, circa 1790

Though the teapot has an inlaid spurious “WEDGWOOD” mark to the base I think it was produced by a lesser factory in Staffordshire and doctored in the late 19th early 20th century.

Height: 4 ⅞”

Condition: Just a minute little nibble to the end of the spout
