Princess Charlotte, the heir presumptive to the British throne, lived at Claremont House in Surrey with her husband, Prince Leopold, following their marriage in 1816. Tragically, at the age of 21, she died there in 1817 after a devastating 51-hour labor that resulted in the birth of a stillborn son.
