Reverse print on glass ‘The MACARONI PAINTER, or BILLY DIMPLE sitting for his PICTURE’, circa 1772

A passage of J.T.Smith’s ‘Nollekens and His Times’, 1828, ii 392-3, which describes this print and states that it is a satire on Richard Cosway, and was mezzotinted by Richard Earlom after a drawing by Robert Dighton.

“Printed for Bowles & Carver, Map & Printsellers, No.69 in St. Pauls Church Yard, London.”
