Saltglaze stoneware model of a lion, circa 1840, probably London

I have always thought that these rough made figures were a by product of the sewer pipe manufacturers, often the moulds taken from Staffordshire figures etc.  Possibly a way for the potters to make extra money on the side.

Length: 8 ¼”

Height: 5 ⅜”
