William Henry Harrison\u00a0(February 9, 1773\u00a0\u2013 April 4, 1841) was the ninth\u00a0president of the United States, serving from March 4 to April 4, 1841, the shortest presidency in U.S. history. He was also the first U.S. president to die in office, causing a brief\u00a0constitutional crisis, since\u00a0presidential succession\u00a0was not then fully defined in the\u00a0U.S. Constitution. Harrison was the last president born as a British subject in the\u00a0Thirteen Colonies. He was a member of the\u00a0Harrison family of Virginia, and a son of\u00a0Benjamin Harrison V, who was a\u00a0U.S. Founding Father. His own son\u00a0John Scott Harrison\u00a0was the father of\u00a0Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd U.S. president.<\/p>\n
